STUDENT FACEMASK CAMPAIGNRallying Australian students to help beat covid-19!
SEW Inc is a social enterprise and registered Australian charity that partners with seamstresses in developing economies. Our principal aim is to create economic opportunities for the chronically ill, including those with HIV. Our secondary aim is to fight covid-19.
Many countries in East Africa suffer from vaccine inequity. Until these communities are vaccinated, SEW Inc is manufacturing and donating facemasks throughout the region. This will slow the spread of the virus.
And we need your help.
Each facemask costs $5 to produce. Students who sign on to our campaign will collect $5 donations and share their efforts on social media. Each donation provides a job to the woman who manufactures the mask and the gift of a facemask to those in need.
Students who collect donations for 20, 50 and 100+ masks will receive a certificate of commendation, which can be used for university and internship applications.

Where do the masks go?
Last year, our masks were donated to Mount Meru Hospital in Arusha, Tanzania. This year, our masks will be donated to SHOFCO, an organisation providing clean water, sanitation and healthcare in Nairobi. SHOFCO provides services to dense urban communities, and masks are critical to stop the spread of COVID-19 in these settings.
What about leadership roles?
We are also inviting applications for our SEW Ambassador Program. This program is aimed at students leaders who want to join SEW’s mission to create sustainable employment for women who face discrimination in the workforce. Ambassadors will lead this facemask campaign at their school and encourage fellow students to sign on to the donation drive.
